Mike owns his own computer consulting business and has several web-based and home-based businesses. He has been a SEMCO member for over 30 years, and has been working with computers for 40 years. He is currently serving SEMCO in several areas, including the Internet Committee where he is chairman, and the Computer Resource Group where he volunteers to help others in the area of computer security. He has been running SETI@home, a distributed computing project, for over eight years. He formed a large international team, called Spot_E.T., that is doing well. He stays busy with more than 30 distributed computing projects.
Mike has been interested in people communicating via on-line chat groups. Recently he started the online Yahoo!® group for SEMCO (SEMCOUG). In years past he assisted with the newsletter and ran the SEMCO BBS (Bulletin Board System). He also believes in the value of computer groups and in addition to SEMCO, is a member of the Royal Oak Computer Club, MacGroup Detroit, Linux–MDLUG, and Linux–MUG.
Mike likes to dabble in electronics. He has a ham (amateur) radio license. He likes cars of any kind and attends a lot of car shows, cruises, and other events. He is into recycling, and has owned and managed several on-line recycle groups for the past four years. The largest three are Royal Oak, Warren, and Madison Heights.
